This is belated because I've been very busy with my new job...
If you will remember, the last time I wrote on this subject, I was kind of smarting from not being offered the supervisor position that was newly created with my department's re-org.
It turns out that it was, in part, a miscommunication. They really didn't think I would want it. I then expressed an official 'interest' in the position.
My direct supervisor wasn't sure about it at first. He and I hadn't worked closely together very much as I was dedicated to one project and pretty much managed myself.
I was told that I should hold tight for a few months and they would revisit the idea... Another blow to the ego....
HOWEVER, within 2 weeks of basically taking on the responsibilities of this new position without the title, they came to me and said. "Yah, you're the right guy for this job. We're sorry to have underestimated you."

So, I now am in the wonderful world of middle-management and I haven't been busier or happier in years. If I had hair, it would be getting pointy as we speak.. :)
So, sometimes things work out...
Lesson Learned: If you want something, speak the fuck up! Don't wait for hand outs!
